For a birth record do you put no extractable data if no name? Also, how do you find discussions on relevant topics. I'm surprised I'm the 1st person asking what to do if a record does not have a name.

For Image 2, the unnamed child's name should be marked <blank>. The project instructions and Field Helps (the purple question mark) can be very helpful in determining how to index these records

To find discussions on relevant topics just click on the search bar at the beginning of the Help Section. Type in your keywords and it will bring up threads with that topic.

Thank you for your question @zacharyboydcampbell1, and for the helpful answers given by maryellenstevensbarnes1 and annewandering.

In the Project Instructions under What to Remember about This Project, bullet point 6 says, "Sometimes a child did not yet have given names when the birth record was created. Often descriptions such as "baby," "female child," or "male child" were written in place of given names. These descriptions should not be typed in the name fields; however, the records should still be indexed."

Per these instructions, if a birth record does not include the child's name, it should still be indexed, marking the Child's Given Names and Child's Surname fields blank.

Yeah like @CJohns7 said with those guidelines, the record should still be indexed. For example when ive done birth records, often if the child is stillborn ive found that there isnt a name.
