Have search by ID the default when using "FIND"

The fancy new page is ok (if you really like clutter)! But since the purpose is to locate a record having that be the default.

PLEASE

The old default was to be whatever one used last, either by name or ID. It would be nice to have that back again. I would not like it to be strictly by ID because I don't keep track of IDs. I keep track of names. I do use the ID FIND if I have copied an ID from a different screen.

What I do like about the new FIND screen, although a bit overwhelming, is the constant emphasis and reminder: This Is A Shared Tree.

Since "Find by ID" is completely unnecessary, I don't want the Find screen to default to it.

(If you have the ID, just paste it at the end of the URL in your browser, or if your browser has "helpfully" hidden that, use the box at the top of the Recents menu.)

    FamilySearch

    Attention: @Ejay A.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

PLEASE; Please; please, DO NOT, make the "Find by ID", the DEFAULT ...

Just LEAVE, the "Find", the way, it IS; and, it WAS, in the PREVOUS "Version".

ie. Where, we have BOTH "Options", on the SAME page/screen (ie. "Find by Name"; and/or, "Find by ID").

Plus, I would prefer, that the "System", DID NOT, return the LAST "Option" used.

There is NO need; as, BOTH, appear on the EXISTING "Find" page/screen (ie. Default).

    'Thank You' in advance.

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

I miss the old method of defaulting to your last used method on the Find By page. Since I alternate between the two depending on what I'm doing, it's nice to not have to constantly click to the Find by ID if that's what I'm doing. Since I do updates to my tree in "batches" (i.e., all the same procedure to anyone who needs it), it's best if the same one I just used pops up again. It saves steps when I'm doing my work to not have to switch it for every one.

Otherwise, I don't mind the changes that have been made; while the old one worked, if it's felt the new page works better for some patrons, that's fine by me!

(I wish this forum allowed downvotes.)

Repeating myself from a month ago: the default should emphatically NOT be "by ID" for Find, because that is completely and utterly pointless. If you already have the ID, then there's nothing needing to be searched or found. Just use the darn thing, either directly in the URL, or in the box at the top of the Recents menu.

@Patty K R O, if you're doing something in Tree in "batches", wouldn't it be fastest to paste the new ID directly into the URL, so that you end up on the same view or tab of the next person? Use Find only when you actually need to find someone, not when you already know exactly where he is.
