the batch instructs the indexer to read basic indexing guidelines. The link to them is broken.
When you open the batch US, Missouri—County Marriages, 1806–1969 [Part P][M9YY-FHK], you are instructed to read the general indexing guidelines. When I click on the link to the guidelines I get a page stating: Well, this is unexpected...

GENERAL INDEXING GUIDELINES
@annewandering In this connection, they should replace all references to the old Basic Indexing Guidelines with ones to the General Indexing Guidelines (GIG). And please officially launch the GIG by making putting them in the Knowledge Center as an integrated document. Now they exist only as the last section of most (why not all?) Project Instructions. I should be able to search for and find them, intact. I don’t understand why this hasn’t been done already. They are part of Indexing 101.
i just checked, and if I search for “General Indexing Guidelines” I get some interesting and useful information about Indexing, - so the system knows that the GIG is about Indexing and not about being an Uber driver. Please get our GIG officially recognized and launched. But my search was not wasted. Below are the first two of the 3162 results of my search. I don’t recall seeing them before and they are useful. But the first result should be the actual set of links that comprise the GIG. And why not pin the GIG near the top of the Indexing Q&A start page? I haven’t checked all 3162 results, but I don’t think I’d find the GIG among them.

We asked and were told this: "Since the Basic Indexing Guidelines have been retired, the link cannot be reopened. Please help your patron find the General Indexing Guidelines in the Indexing Help page for any specific topics."

@annewandering Please tell whomever said that to read what John Empoliti wrote. They need to replace that link with the General Indexing Guidelines. These are new projects and the link to BIGs was retired at least two years ago.
