Search results death filter not filtering
Please escalate to engineering team. I do not need help. Thanks!
When I apply the death place filter it does not filter. If I select one of the additional death place filters, it does filter.

@dontiknowyou Are you still experiencing this issue? Maybe I'm not completely understanding the problem. This is what I did to try to replicate the problem, using a public account:
1. Search > Records
2. More Options
3. Enter Last Name of Zintner and mark exact search.
4. Click Search.
5. I see 866 results: https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?exactSearching=true&q.surname=Zintner&q.surname.exact=on
6. Under Add Record options, click Type and then Death. Click Search again. I see 176 results: https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&f.recordType=2&q.surname=Zintner&q.surname.exact=on All seem to fall into the proper category.
If you are still experiencing issues with applying filters, can you please provide some details about your computer so we can try to figure out what is going on? What operating system are you using and what version of said operating system? What browser are you using and what version of the browser? Have you cleared your FamilySearch cookies recently?0
You will probably need to provide an example. I just tried to replicate with my own example and had no problem. I searched for a death (specifying place and date range) and got 36 results, all matching the specified criteria. That was without using the "Death" filter, but I received the same 36 results when it was used.
I believe you will need to detail what you are inputting and/or provide a URL that illustrates, otherwise the engineers might have problems finding any bug, either.0
Example is surname Zintner exact. This by itself returns 762 records. Filtering on Type = Death returns 146 records.
The problem is seen when searching without filtering, then filtering the 762 results by Death. This returns all 762 results.
Also, for what it is worth, under Death Place the sub-filters are:
Continental Europe 43
146-1-43-46 = 56, the difference between these two filters that seemingly should return the same results.2
Yes - I replicated that! Definitely needs to be addressed by engineers.0
Does that mean the other 90 have no 'place of death' recorded?0
@Paul W thank you!
So there are actually two issues here:
- Bug: post-search death filter not filtering.
- Design: no sub-filter for death without a place. I want a "None" sub filter, please!
Does that mean the other 90 have no 'place of death' recorded?
Yes. Those are burial records and Social Security Administration death records. SSA reports last known residence, not death place.
Family Tree systematically neglects to provide the ability to find "none" records. No parent, birth record but no place, death record but no date or no place, etc.
But, again, this is not the bug I am trying to get escalated here.1
