On the Philadelphia marriage license index https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-67X7-YSL?i=178&cc=1388247 what does the 4th column do for me? There is name, marriage date, sex and a number. Does this lead me to a more detailed marriage record? How do I use this info?

Those numbers appear to reference the marriage certificate number (which if given the appropriate book you could locate). The collection - how to use page:

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Pennsylvania%2C_Philadelphia_Marriage_Index_-_FamilySearch_Historical_Records

    Refers you to:

    https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/217392?availability=Family%20History%20Library
    https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/2466357

I hope you can locate the actual certificate there.
