After the initial name there are some entries that have an "ux" with a name following it. Is that to be indexed? The 1st line of this batch has ux Wm J after it and near the bottom there is ux FD

@Janet Holdstock My understanding is that is a notation that Mary E Hennessey is the "wife of" Wm J. And that Arena T Hough is the "wife of" FD. if you look close up it does look like a "wf". I would not index that name as neither man is not listed as an owner. However, that will be a fun piece of information for a researcher to find.

Thank you for your question. May you find joy in your service today.

Based on these project instructions, you will not need to include abbreviations with names. Also, because of these instructions I have been indexing the noted names that go along with the owners since they are located in the owners column with the owners and they are unique.

    • When indexing real estate registers which had a column for owners and no other names, index the names of owners in this column. Do not mark these images as "No, No Extractable Data." This is an exception to the previous rule to not index the names of owners.
    • Do not include abbreviations of titles or terms in the name fields. Some abbreviations may include the following: Adminr (administrator), Atty (attorney), DO (ditto), Wfe (wife), Exrs (executors), Bros (brothers).
    • Index each unique name.
    • A surname may have been written once for multiple individuals. Index the surname for all names listed under the surname until a new surname is indicated.

I am guessing latin but I don't really know. It is used in a lot of old English records.

@Janet Holdstock The abbreviation "ux" stands for the Latin "uxor" (wife).
