Under the Get Involved Review Names, some of the names that are suggested are the names or abbreviations for places. Should those be treated as a Transcription Error (Not A Name) or should they be Matched/Edited?

I do Transcription Error (Not a Name) for those because the objective of the computer indexing program is to identify family names.

(note: I am not the program manager or representative, so this is not the "official" answer.)

Thank you for your questions. Yes, you are correct, any names like business or place names (names that are not people's names) should be identified as a Transcription Error using the Not-a-Name option.

What if the names for a place or anything for that matter than it not a person but has a person's name? An example would be Jefferson county. If Jefferson is a person's name but the usage is not does it confuse the computer if we mark it as not a name?

My understanding of this task is that it deals only with personal names.
