If the sex of the child is not asked for, but is on the certificate, how can that information be included, as well as the birth place of both mother and father.

When we index, we are not documenting every detail. We are creating finding aids. Not every detail can or should be included. We can only complete those fields requested.

I'm new to Indexing and was given the same advice as above, by Melissa S Himes, recently. That is: we are making it possible for people to find the records. They can then see whatever information is included in the record. We don't have to provide it.

It has helped me enormously in understanding my role in the process of Indexing. Great suggestion Áine Ní Donnghaile!
