The catalogue reference is https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/260264-the-defence-of-stonington-connecticut-against-a-british-squadron-august-9th-to-12th-1814?offset=1
The Digital Book file displayed perfectly OK for me.
I agree the OCR text is not the best, but generally a person is looking at a digital file to see the images, not a OCR of the text.
This book file is from a file at the Internet Archive, where there are 5 different versions https://archive.org/search.php?query=title%3A%28The+defence+of+Stonington+%28Connecticut%29+%29&sort=-publicdate, one of which is from Gutenberg.org, https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/26946 which has a good transcribed edition, if this is what you are looking for

The OCR at the beginning isn't great - and then later nonexistent? - oh it looks like you have to zoom in to get that to appear... But the images seem fine?
