Need clarification please for getting an endowment done for a person who is deceased. This person has been deceased only 3 years and needs her initiatory and endowment. Obviously, Permission is needed. The mother was told she could get permission to do the work simply because she was the mother. Is this true and how does she go about it.

    Hi Pauline,

As long as the time after becoming deceased is greater than one year and one day, there should be no problem.

The information given to the mother about not needing permission is correct, as she is classed as one of the deceased person's close living relatives.

There are several articles describing how this is done, but because they relate to LDS ordinances you would need to link your FamilySearch account to your membership account. This can be done in your account settings.

If you click on the question mark at the top right of your home screen and then select Help Center at the bottom of the drop-down menu, you can type: Do I need permission from the closest living relative to do temple ordinances? in the search box at the top of the page. This will show an article that should cover all your needs, particularly if you also click on the additional links at the bottom of the article page.

    Hope this helps.
