It is possible to add people that aren't connected to your family tree. This article explains how to do that. https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-add-an-unconnected-person-to-family-tree

    Hope this helps!

The FamilySearch tree is all one tree - intended to include, theoretically, one profile for each person in the world.

If you want to start a branch that is not related to you, while you are in the tree, click "Recents" in the menu bar. In the dropdown menu that appears, you will see "Add Unconnected Person" at the bottom.

i learned how to do this recently and it works great. I have stuff related to family friends and clients of ancestors, and I can’t find records for all of them, so this is great,
