New Index Added to Utah Collection
Hi, I'm Alyssa! I am an intern at the Family History Library and have been asked to share about a Utah collection that has been published this week.
The collection "Utah, Utah County Records, 1850-1962" has been on FamilySearch, but now, over 2,000 of the records have been indexed. The index is not yet complete, but it is exciting to have more records searchable through the index!
There are three main type of records in this collection. First is Land and Property Records. This includes Deeds, Mortgages, and Mining Records. These records have not been indexed yet, but are still available to browse through the images.
The next record type in this collection is Naturalization Records. These records can be searched through the index. This includes Declarations of Intentions and Petitions for Naturalization. The years covered are the mid 1860s to 1906.
Vital Records are the final record type in this collection. This includes some birth registers, death registers, marriage license applications, marriage certificates, and marriage licenses. The birth and death registers have not been indexed yet, but the images can be browsed. The marriage licenses have been indexed, but the marriage certificates and the applications are not currently searchable via the index.
If you have any ancestors that lived in Utah County especially between 1855-1915, I would recommend taking the opportunity to search the index or even browse the images to see if they are included in Land, Naturalization, and Vital Records. Good luck!
