Is Get Involved replacing Indexing?
No, Get Involved does NOT replace indexing. You can still index; we need you to continue indexing. Indexing will become one of many volunteer activities that are part of the Get Involved experience. Indexing will show as a subheading to Get Involved on FamilySearch.org.

They need to put the Indexing header back and add an Other Opportunities header.

It's 'Brett'.
I TOTALLY agree.
Furthermore ...
"Indexing", should NOT, be CONFALTED, with OTHER "Volunteer" Activities.
"Indexing", should ALWAYS be, separate; and, distinct, from OTHER "Volunteer" Activities.
I hope, that OTHERS agree ...
Brett
ps: The MORE that 'step up', with their concern; then, the MORE that those who make such decisions MAY take notice ...

I support the change and would encourage FS to go further by moving all the content on the page https://www.familysearch.org/en/info/volunteer to the new Get Involved Tab.
I think the term "Get Involved" is more likely to attract new volunteers for FS than either of the phrases "Volunteer" or "Indexing". The term "Indexing" may be unfamiliar for some users, the term "Volunteer" implies a big and ongoing commitment. "Get Involved" is an invitation for users to do a range of activities for as little or as long as they wish.
I know change is always hard, but things cannot stay the same forever. This has not been done "for the sake of change", as it has coincided with the new "Review Names" volunteer project, a massive and historic announcement. I would not be surprised if within 5 years most "Indexing" is done through Review Names. Only very difficult projects- e.g. difficult to read handwriting styles such as the Kurrent German script, and less commonly used languages for which there is not enough of a databank to train Artifical Intelligence models would still have to be Indexed manually.

Can someone explain how something gets listed under review vs. the index process? I still find the review process for Brazilian records troubling as many records do not follow a particular order and the computer gets rightfully confused more often than not, and I've seen some disastrously organized images. Additionally, what is the process for organizing entries post-review? Indexing allows for names and additional info on entries to be organized into father, mother, relatives, etc. as well as birthdates, register dates, and most importantly, where the entry is located. The Review process does not allow for this and does not indicate whether there will be more work done on these entries because as is, they are not ready for the search engine.
