Photo Upload Issue

Whenever I upload pictures, the FS Memories section of the FS program reads many pictures as "duplicates" and won't upload them. The DUPLICATE sign indicates that the photos are already in the gallery but they are not. FYI - when I scan and label both the front and back of photos I have used the same jpg name except I add "Back of" to the name of the scanned photo's back. Example: "Sheila Campbell wedding party" and "Back of Sheila Campbell wedding party." I'm struggling because the back of the photo will load but not the front. That's when I get the "DUPLICATE" warning. I've tried changing the photo names to just a random number and they still won't upload. Any suggestions?? Thank you!

Have you considered using your imaging program to connect the front and back into a single piece? That way all the information is together and cannot be separated, even accidentally. And you avoid the problem of the algorithm interpreting there is a duplicate.

Here's an example from my stash - a group photo to which I've attached an outline with the names.

The front and back are not being confused by FS Memories - they are two totally distinct files -even if you gave them the same name - they would not be confused by the duplicate check in FS.

and duplicates are not based on file name. Even a single file that has been renamed will still be detected as a duplicate

Unless there is some (very recent) bug in the system - if you get a duplicate message - it is because there is indeed a duplicate and you should see any duplicates in your gallery. Though it may be easy to miss.

how many items do you have in your gallery?

do you use albums in your gallery? for anyone with large numbers of items it is often best to group into albums.

when you go to the gallery to check for existing duplicates. . .

do you just look for it visually

do you do a search (magjifyng glass) by description or file name?

is your gallery so huge that it would be easy to miss?

Is your gallery so huge that it takes a few minutes to initially display>

also when you upload the items - are you uploading them one by one

or uploading two by two or in even larger batches?
