have you considered doing any DNA testing?
(though DNA may or may not always give a clear and specific answer) especially if the full blooded Native connection is beyond like 5-6 generations.)0

One rule of thumb says any ethnicity amount under 5% should be treated with suspicion. You will inherit about 12.5% of your DNA from a great-grandmother, and if she was fully Native American then a reliable DNA company such as Ancestry.com should detect the Native American DNA. However a 3 times or 5 times great-grandmother is too far back for DNA. The exception however is she is on the direct female line (i.e. your mother's mother's mother's ....). In the case, a mtDNA test from FamilyTreeDNA will tell you your haplogroup, and then you can see if that haplogroup is a Native American or European haplogroup.
I hope this helps.1
