United States—Enlisted and Officer Muster Rolls and Rosters,
Normally I would just look for the corresponding date in the reference images and be done with it. However, I may be over thinking this, so I want to be sure. The year is listed as 192. When looking through the reference images I see the year 1912. Naturally I want to put that as the year on my batch. Here is where I hesitate. When looking at my batch, I see one of the enlistment dates as (Jan 1-13). This is for Henry E Fessenden. This indicates to me that this man was enlisted in the year 1913.
I would feel more comfortable indexing the year as 19?2 fixing it from 192?. For those without an enlistment date. Also want to confirm that those with enlistment dates will have that date for their record instead of the date at the top of the page.
So some input would be nice. Want to be sure I am making the right call and before submitting. Thanks!
Batch: M32N-GS5

Hi @Ksalers
You won't need to make that call, but you have a bit more work to do. This batch is one of those rare 2-page muster rolls. The second page is on reference image +1. Below is how they look together to have this post make sense after the batch is long gone. So the date of this bi-monthly muster roll is 28-Feb-1913 (the end of the two months). So that first date was meant to be 31-December-1912. But it's moot, thankfully. That February date may/should be used for those first three officers without enlistment dates listed, as you know.

Thanks for the info! I am not seeing what you are seeing. I only have 1 image available to index. I have searched the reference images and some say they aren't available (forbidden). Maybe this is why? I have refreshed to be sure that it wasn't just a loading problem. None of the images available to me in my reference image section look like what you are showing me for the following page.
Anymore insight would be great.

There are problems with the image viewer regarding reference images. A longstanding one is that someone looking at a shared image cannot see the reference images (so I went to the film). That’s a real handicap when trying to help someone. Another is what you’re experiencing (“forbidden” images). You (anIndexer or Reviewer) can’t see some or all of your own reference images. That has happened to me several times. I hope they fix these problems soon.

Ksalers, you need to go to your reference images to +1 to see the second half of your document. It is a two page document as John as said.
Can I view reference images side by side while indexing?

You can view multiple images while you index. The additional images are reference images and can help you with your work. This feature is essential if you are indexing a record that continues from one image to the next, or if you are struggling to read difficult handwriting.
Steps
- Click the 4th icon in the small, vertical toolbar to the left of the screen.
- You can also click Data Entry in the top menu, and then click Show Reference Images.
- The reference image opens on the right side of the image area. Click the thumbnail of the image you want to view.
- Adjust the size and contrast of the reference image to find the information you need.
- You can continue indexing while viewing both images at the same time.
0 - Click the 4th icon in the small, vertical toolbar to the left of the screen.

I think it's best I return this batch. I hope someone else can review it properly. Thank you for your help. I would hope that if my reference images were working properly I would have known what to do, but honestly you have taught me something new when it comes to these rare muster rolls. Thank you.

Thank you for your response @annewandering . My reference images aren't showing properly and this is why I am unable to view the page that John is showing. I have at least 4 images in my reference images that are saying "unable to view (Forbidden)".

I saw your post explaining that you were having trouble seeing the reference images after I posted. Sorry about that. I am leaving the reference information for those who are following this.
