My Question Disappeared!

Jeanine Newsom

I put a question in the temple category, and it disappeared. Poof! Into the ether!

Was it deleted somehow? I don't think it was a sensitive subject--I asked about the printed status of temple-shared ordinances--so it makes no sense to me for it to have been deleted.

Should I just resubmit the question?

The temple icon means that the entire ordinance row has been printed, either by a temple or another patron.

Since your 2nd image shows one line of the row not printed, there isn't a temple icon as you can still unshare that specific ordinance. If all of those individual ordinances were printed in that row, it would also show a temple icon.

It is more likely that the question was not posted correctly due to a glitch. I looked in your profile and it only shows two discussions. So yes - posting the question again is the way to go.

    It's 'Brett'.

Please be, advised; and, aware ...

That 'Jeanine', DID, in fact, post recently, this morning; and, her post HAS, 'literally', "Disappeared".

I KNOW; as, I responded to her 'Post', with a 'Comment'.

In, NEITHER case, was her 'Post'; nor, My 'Comment', a 'Breach', of the "Code of Conduct'.

Something SCREWY, is going on, in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, of late ...

A NUMBER of Participants, of late, have mentioned, that their 'Post' (or, in some cases, 'Comment'), HAS, 'literally', "Disappeared".

    Brett,

If you saw and commented on my post, do you know the answer to my question from that post? I will gladly repost it, but if you know and can reply, that would be helpful.

    Thanks!

    Jeanine

    O.K., right ...

Your "Image", has "Cleared", the "Image Moderation" ...

    So ...

    That Said ...

The "Temple" Icon MEANS, that a "Temple" HAS actually "Printed" that "Ordinance", in PREPARATION, to be given to a Patron, "Visiting" the "Temple", who DOES NOT have, a Card for their OWN Ancestors to do; and, is so using that Work, that is "Share[d] with the Temple System" - ie. "Temple File".

    That is NORMAL.

Certainly NOTHING to worry about ...

EVEREYTING is O.K., just fine ...

    And, 'Yes', ...

ONCE a "Temple", HAS actually "Printed", an "Ordinance", in PREPARATION, to be given to a Patron, "Visiting" the "Temple", we CANNOT "Unshare" from the "Temple System".

    Whereas ...

The ONLY problem/issue, is WHEN, such an "Ordinance", HAS been "Sitting", in LIMBO, for a NUMBER of Years".

Unfortunately, that sometimes happens; and, that is where 'FamilySearch' MUST "Clear" (ie. "Reset") , that "Temple" Icon; so that, the Work can actually be "Removed" from LIMBO, so that, SOMEONE (or, another "Temple") can "Reserve" and do the Work.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

    @Amy Archibald,

Thank you for your answer. That makes sense now. The devs may want to fix it so a user cannot unshare printed cards when the whole row hasn't been printed, as it appears that is possible.

    @Brett . and @Norm Jones,

I wonder if there is something up with the Temple discussion board itself. Both posts were posted there, and both disappeared almost immediately.

    Thank you all!

As for new posts disappearing, my suspicion is that any new post that attaches any graphic like a screenshot, is put into a "review" queue that is waiting for the moderators @Mark McLemore or @PiperTWilson to approve it. They do not react in a timely manner, probably because they are swamped like everyone else.

    Jon

    It's 'Brett'.

    Just in passing ...

    In this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum ...

ANY, 'Post'; and/or, 'Comment', that contains an "Image" (of ANY kind), it is the "Image", that is subject to "Image Moderation", NOT the, 'Post'; and/or, 'Comment'.

That "Image Moderation", in the Forum, is the SAME; as, "Image Moderation", for that of "Memories", in 'FamilySearch'.

Truly, I DO NOT believe/think, that, 'Posts'; and/or, 'Comments', that contains "Images", are PREVIEWED, by the "Admiration", of this Forum; BEFORE, being, ALLOWED to appear.

They just, DO NOT have, the 'Time"; nor, personnel, to undertake such.

There IS, a CURRENT problem/issue, with this Forum, with, 'Posts'; and/or, 'Comments', literally, DISAPPEARING - I KNOW; as, some of the "Comments" have been MINE; and, some DID NOT contain "Images".

    This NEEDS to be investigated.

That 'Post', in my PREVIOUS 'Comment", is an EXAMPLE of such.

    Just my thoughts.

@Brett - I posted a new discussion thread yesterday with one screenshot attachment, that I could never find until 24 hours later. The moderator Piper Wilson claimed she never had to approve it, and the other moderator is out of town this week. See https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/116766/portal-extension-not-green-after-modem-replacement#latest

She found it this afternoon by going to my profile and clicking my Discussions button. But when I click "My Discussions", I still only get two abbreviated clickable discussion snapshots on the left, despite the "My Discussions" button claiming I (now) have 13 discussions.

So besides some bugs, my current thinking is that if no moderator approves a new discussion with a big enough graphic (like a screenshot) attached, within 24 hours, the Community system assumes it's approved otherwise.

    @Jon W. Thomas

    Jon

    It's 'Brett'.

    Just in passing ...

In regards to, that post of yours ...

That 'Disappearing' ACT, actually IS the problem/issue, with the "System" (ie. "Community.FamilySearch" Forum)

Your "Image", DID go through "Image Moderation" - just like "Memories" in 'FamilySearch'.

ONLY the actual "Images", go through "Image Moderation", NOT the 'Post'/'Comments'.

As far as I am aware, there is NO (General) "Vetting" of 'Posts'/'Comments', by ANYONE; before, being posted.

But, even that, would most likely NOT, made your post "Disappear" ...

Well, it actually was, the "Images" (in posts/comments); and, "Editing" (of posts/comments), that caused, a 'Disappearing' ACT, a little while back; but, that actually got addressed/fixed.

    But ...

    That Said ...

    Unfortunately ...

That certainly COULD, have 'raised it's ugly head again'; but, with another 'Twist" ...

Have a 'look', at these "Images", of your post ...

The FIRST, is when you posted, the post, note the 'Date' and 'Time' (ie. MY Local 'Time' = UCT +11 Hours ).

    image.png

The SECOND, is that your post WENT through "Image moderation"; and, was eventually, "Approved",

note the 'Date' and 'Time' (ie. MY Local 'Time' = UCT +11 Hours ); plus, WHO the "Editor" was.

[ ie. "Image Moderator", of "Image Moderation" ]

    image.png

I am 'old friends', with the "Image Moderator", of "Image Moderation" ... we go back a long way ...

Just a few Weeks ago, I go OVER x60 ("Private") 'Messages', from the "Image Moderator", of "Image Moderation", advising me, that my "Image", was NOT approved.

The SAD thing was, that with 99.9% of those 'Messages', I was NOT even submitting the post/comment, all I was doing, was working on the post/comment.

The "Image Moderator"; and, "Image Moderation", in BOTH, (1) the "Memories, of 'FamilySearch'; and, (2) ESPECIALLY, in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, WAS literally "Out of Control", a short while back.

Luckily, there has been some 'Tweaking', to the "Image Moderation" programme.

This, RECENT, 'Disappearing' ACT, actually IS, a problem/issue, with the "System" (ie. "Community.FamilySearch" Forum), that MAY just be exacerbated, by "Images"; but, there are OTHER things involved.

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

ps: At least, your post, 'resurfaced, many, DO NOT ...

pps: My "Image(s)" above, will go through "Image Moderation", retaining the "Hour Glass"; UNTIL, they are "Approved" - if ever ...
