Which information is correct
Looking at the marriage information for my great uncle Josiah McGee I get conflicting reports. One set of Family Search records indicate he married Emily Smitson 26 July 1864, Dekalb county, Tn. There is also records indicting her name was Emily I Smitson. Ancestry.com has the record as Emily J Smithsom. Almost identical spelling except for the H. Not having visual access to the actual record begs me to ask exactly what does the record say? Is it Smitson or Smithson? Adding to the mystery is it was a double ceremony with his brother, James W. McGee, marrying Mary A. Smithson. This information is verified to be correct. Is it just coincidental their names were almost identical? Or were they sisters/cousins? Its hard to move forward until I know the correct spelling of the last name of Emily.
Thanks for any help,
James McGee

@James McGee_3 I would recommend that you request a copy of the record using the FamilySearch Remote Lookup Service. New Library Lookup Service at the Family History Library • FamilySearch The record copy will arrive by email, as an image file, in 1 to 4 weeks.

Thanks for answering. I was hoping someone might have access to the actual file and could tell me what it says. :) If I get no response I will take your suggestion. Thanks again.

It's not an online record, James. The free service is very good and very quick. And you'll have the record "in your hands" - always better!

Just tried and it says the online form is closed.

Your right, my bad. The page has a request form link and it's showing closed but the other link at the top of the page worked fine. I'm filling it out now. Thanks for your assistance.
