It would help us answer your question if you could share the Shared Batch code. The code is in this format starting with the letter 'M'. [MMMM-MMM] It is after the project name.

Different projects have different rules so until we have the batch code we cannot know how to help you.

    Victoria,

The general guideline in indexing is given names do not indicate gender. Records are from multiple countries, from many cultures, in multiple languages. Sometimes one letter can change a name from male to female. In some cultures names are gender neutral. This can be a bit confusing with some of the records.

As mentioned, please share your batch. If you are working on one of the South Africa, KwaZulu Natal—Vital Records, the Indian Immigrant numbers can sometimes tell you the gender of the parent.
