Error When Requesting to Do Initiatory for my Aunt

My sister had no problem requesting to do the baptism and confirmation for my aunt; but when I try to request to do the initiatory, I get an error even though it says I'm approved. I've cleared cookies and opened an incognito window, but no go.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

I stand corrected, if I am wrong ...

    But ...

    That Said ...

I would humbly suggest, that from the "Image", that you have provided/supplied ...

That, that "Error Message" of "Unable to complete your request, Please try again later." appears ...

    BECAUSE ...

'FamilySearch', is ALREADY, in the "Process", of accessing, a "Request", for "Permission", for the "SS" ...

[ Which, in fact, may be yours - if you have already requested such ... ]

    And ...

    As such ...

Any subsequent (ie. later) "Requests", will NOT be entertained; UNTIL, the matter, of the CURRECT request, is considered and finalised.

Again, I stand corrected, if I am wrong ...

    Just my thoughts.

    Good Luck.

I know, that this certainly may not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective.

    @MooreRebeccaMarie

You now need permission from a close living relative to do the ordinances for your Aunt. If you click on the down arrow right of the message "You are approved to request these ordinances" is tells you Permission Required.

The following is from the Help Center article found by putting in the key words "Permission Required".

You can do ordinances for a deceased person who was born within the last 110 years. But you must meet certain requirements:

    • The person must be deceased for at least one year and one day.
    • You must be one of the close living relatives, or you must obtain permission from one of the closest living relatives.
      • If you are not the spouse or a child, parent, or sibling of the deceased, obtain permission from one of the close living relatives.
      • The close living relatives are an undivorced spouse, an adult child, a parent, a brother, or a sister.
    • Permission granted by a deceased person before death does not qualify. Permission must come from a close living relative.
    • You need to be related to the deceased person. You can use the View My Relationship link on the Person page to confirm your relationship. (See the related article below for additional help with this feature.)

Here is an example of how to approach family members who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to request permission:

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am seeking your permission to submit [person's name] to the temple. In the temple, we perform sacred ordinances for our loved ones who have passed away. It would be my gift to [him or her], and I would be honored. I will respect whatever you say and will hold no hard feelings if you decline.

Consider and respect the wishes of close living relatives, especially a living spouse, and accept the answer you receive.
