@jon horridge, a couple of ways, first is one of her parents deceased? If so find that person on the Family Tree and then click the "add child" box. If both parents are still living then go to FamilySearch Family Tree and click the "Recents" tab, at the bottom of that window click "Add Unconnected Person"

@Jon Horridge , if you mean that she is already in Family Tree but not yet connected to the Living members in their private living area then each of you will need to go to the Living parents in each of your accounts then click "Add Child" then "By ID Number" enter your deceased sister's PID from Family Tree.

Now I have found references to both my sister and my aunt but they do not have IDs. Is there a way to allocate IDs?

Jon, so I guess you mean you found reference in the Search records but not in the Family Tree section? If you go to familysearch.org and sign in, then click the "Family Tree" tab then click "Tree" , and tell me what you see. Do you see your tree or your person page? If you don't see your person page, click the "Recents" tab and then click on your Name to bring up your person page. Scroll down, look in the "Family Members" section. Do you see yourself with your parents on the right? If not you should click "Add Parent". After you add your parents you should be able to click "Add Child" and add you sister.

@Jon Horridge, it sounds like maybe you're a bit confused about what all is on FS anyway. It's a rather vast spread of disparate parts. The two that you're primarily dealing with are the indexed Historical Records, and the Family Tree. People get all confused between these All The Time, because they're linked to each other and look similar, but they are emphatically Not The Same Thing.
Indexed Historical Records is the database that Search - Records (with its dratted new-and-disimproved interface) looks through, and it consists of what various volunteers (and some computers) have entered into it over the years as part of various indexing projects. Usually, said volunteers were looking at images (digital, or in the older indexes, microfilm) that are also on FamilySearch (in yet another different part of the sprawl).
Family Tree is FS's open-edit communal genealogy. The lofty and far-off goal is to have one and only one profile on it for every person who has ever lived. When you create a new profile on the Tree, it automatically gets assigned a new ID, consisting of seven alphanumeric characters plus a hyphen in the middle. You can use this ID to quickly go to exactly the person you meant, but you can also navigate to profiles using more human methods, such as by name.
When you find an indexed record that matches a profile in the tree (or vice versa: find a profile that matches a record), you can attach them to each other. The profile will then list the record on its Sources tab, and the record will then have a tree-stublet icon in search results, and a profile summary in the right-hand column on the index detail page. (It's especially that last bit that leads many people to confuse or conflate Records and Tree.)

Fantastic explanation. It will take me a while to digest all of it! I have been entering profiles on WikiTree which is quite similar to FamilySearch, it's free, and can be contributed to by it's patrons. But though it stresses support by source material does not help provide it. I keep referring to FamilySearch and have found it to be amazing!
