When the 1940 census shows "same house" for residence in 1935, does that mean the same house as in 1940 or the same house they were in, in 1930?

The instructions to Enumerators are at the top of the column, @JHRaines.

And you can read the detailed instructions to enumerators here: https://usa.ipums.org/usa/voliii/inst1940.shtml

@JHRaines , you may have noted that when you use "Same House" or "Same Place" as the residence, you will get a data error message in Family Tree. If you are using the source linker you can change Same House to the actual Place name from the 1940 census when you attach that source or you can Edit the Residence in the "Other Information" section to clear that error message.
