Why do my reserved endowment names expire in 3 months when temple appointments are so difficult to obtain in that short time frame?

Are you saying, that on the PHYSICAL "Printed" Cards, that an "Expiration" 'Date', NOW appears.

[ Because, such would be "New" ... ]

    Please advise.

Or, are you just referring, to the "Expiration" 'Dates', in your "List", of "Reservations".

    Because ...

IF, you are; THEN, please be aware, that those "Expiration" 'Dates' ACTUALLY increment as time passes.

Those "Expiration" 'Dates' WILL actually CONTINE to increment on a "Daily" basis ...

    [ As far as I am aware ... ]

UNTIL, "Phase 4", is reached, by ALL "Temples", all around the World.

https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-long-do-you-have-to-complete-ordinances-before-reservations-expire Ordinances that you reserve using the Ordinances Ready feature generally expire in 90 days. Ordinances that you reserve in Family Tree generally expire in 2 years. To see when the ordinances you have reserved expire, go to your temple reservation list on the FamilySearch.org website or in the Family Tree mobile app.

Note: When a person shares an ancestor's ordinances with the temple, those ordinances are available for other descendants to reserve. This second reservation expires in 90 days and cannot be shared. It can only be unreserved. After 90 days, the ordinance is returned to the temple, and the person who originally shared the ordinance has the option to unshare it.….

https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-happens-to-my-ordinance-reservation-during-the-covid-19-outbreak Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and temple closures, FamilySearch is temporarily suspending all temple ordinance expiration dates until all temples have reopened.

    • Reservations for temple ordinances will not expire until all temples have resumed pre-pandemic operations.
    • An expiration date less than 90 days in the future will be extended to 90 days. Once all temples reopen, the person holding the reservation will have 90 days to complete the ordinance.
    • An expiration date that is scheduled more than 90 days in the future will be automatically rescheduled, day by day, until all temples reopen. This means that if a particular reservation expires in 100 days, the 100-day period won’t begin until all temples reopen.

    ok, Miss Jessie:

_ The Cedar City Utah temple states it is currently in phase 3 "Family Search is suspending all temple ordinance expiration dates until temples resume full operations." or to quote you . . . "pre-pandemic operations."

    What does "full operations" mean?"

How can I reserve via Family Tree?

Why would FS send me 6 names to take to the temple when the appointment system is too restrictive to have all 6 names completed before the three month expiration date?

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    [ And, I happen to be a Member o the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

And, I apologise, in advance, for being blunt, please do not be offended; as, such was not the intent.

Your Question: What does "full operations" mean?"

Short Answer: Phase 4 ... (ie. pre. COVID-19 Pandemic)

Your Question: How can I reserve via Family Tree?

Short Answer: The SAME way we have always, there is NO difference.

UNLESS, of course, you mean, now that we are subject to a LIMIT of x300 "Reservations", at any given time.

    That, is another matter ...

'FamilySearch', DOES NOT, give you a certain number of "Names" ...

That is YOUR choice, by using "OrdinancesReady" ...

You DO NOT have to use "OrdinancesReady", that is your choice ...

    Unfortunately ...

In this day and age, it appears that many Users/Patrons, consider that "OrdinancesReady" is the way to go; as, "OrdinancesReady" is such, a quick; and, easy, process.

We never had, "OrdinancesReady" up until a few Years ago.

"OrdinancesReady", is simply helpful/useful for those, that are 'caught in a bind'; when, they have a "Temple" visit scheduled (or, are notified of one, scheduled by, a Ward/Branch/Stake/District); but, unfortunately, do not have any "Temple" Cards, for their Ancestors, 'on-hand', available.

    In fact, more fully ...

"OrdinancesReady" is ONLY, a quick; and, easy, process of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, when one (or, OTHER Family members) is (are) going to visit the "Temple", that day or the next, when one (or, OTHER Family members) DOES NOT have ANY "Temple" Cards, 'on-hand', available.

    And ...

"OrdinancesReady" is certainly NO substitute, for doing one's (or, OTHER Family members) due diligence, well IN ADVANCE of visiting the "Temple" of, FINDING; and, PRINTING, the "Temple" Cards, for one's (or, OTHER Family members) Ancestors, to have 'on-hand', available, through one's (or, OTHER Family members) "Reservations" List; and/or, normal research.

    Plus ...

    In any case ...

As advised, in the original 'Comment' (and, "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch'), provided by 'Miss Jessie' ...

ALL "Reservations", be they, the "x2 Year" Period; and/or, the "x90 Day" Period, are being AUTOMATICALLY extended; UNTIL, "Temples", are operating on "Phase 4" - FULL Operations ... ie. pre. COVID-19 Pandemic.

[ And, I think, that means ... ALL ... Temple ... But, of course, I stand corrected, if I am wrong ... ]

    Just my thoughts.

Again, I apologise, for being blunt, please do not be offended; as, such was not the intent. ...

I know, that this certainly may not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective; plus, another avenue to pursue.

thanks for your "blunt" answers.... My question still remains:

Why on the page titled "My Reservations" The banner headline is "Expirations will continue to be suspended until all temples are fully reopened," why do my 6 cards already printed on Jan 10 have an expiration date in April? ?

To honor the banner headline quoted above, there should be NO expiration date listed for my 6 already printed cards! Right?

    If you don't know, who does ? ? ?
