Why do Wisconsin Death Index records have only a year of death lately?
My work is primarily with Wisconsin records. When I've found WI death index records I've always gotten a full date of death and some reference to a location. Since yesterday, these records have only a death year given. Why the change to less useful information?
Also, the locations on some of these records now has an attempted interpretation of abbreviated location. The interpretation is poor in at least one case - Mars, , WI is Marshfield, Wood Co, WI and NOT Marshall .. Wisconsin Territory (or something close to this which is very old and odd).
Poor data is no data.
Just a quick add - sure would be nice to keep my data accurate. I probably do up to 100 WI deaths a week and ALL are missing the WI Death Record corroboration I've had on my records for YEARS. A shame and a disservice.

@KoalaKim Are these records the results of a search? Have you checked to be sure that your preferences are set to Display "All Information" when you search?
I had mine set to "all info," but the preferences changed, without my intervention, to "minimal," and I had to re-set them.

Using data sheet format that doesn't have limits. Checked with format you reference and still only see years. Limiting data would show date field or not show date field. It should never limit a date field to year only, in other words.
I was getting dates until two days ago. Someone changed something on the backend .. again.

I wasn't suggesting anything about the data sheet format. The minimal/default/all preferences just happen to be on the same flyout window.
