1950 Census
Our genealogical society is interested in helping index the 1950 census that comes out in April. How do we find out the procedure for doing that?

You can sign up for updates about the 1950 census release here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/info/us-census/1950-census/
At the bottom of that form, there is a box to check: "I'm a leader of a group or organization that wants information on how to volunteer to enhance the 1950 U.S. Census online experience."

I am one individual that isn't with a group signed up for help with the indexing. I do belong to the Downriver Genealogy Society in Wayne Co., Michigan. I was an indexer and arbitrator for the 1940 Census. How can I sign up to help? I now live in Tucson, Arizona.
Thank you,
Sharon Rickerson

@Sharon Rickerson go to the same link shown for organizations - there's also a box for individuals to check and receive updates

Expecting that work on the 1950 census will be a lot like the new Review Names project, I am spending some time there now.

Please say it isn't so!!! I'm praying the powers that feed these computers will use the original census form as a guide for our review forms so that everyone will be able to read and understand them for what they are. Lots of us were alive and kicking in 1950 and we want indexing and reviewing done correctly or right, as the case may be

@maryellenstevensbarnes1 You can see the process on this video from RootsTech:

For the 1950 US Census project I clicked on "Groups" ( https://www.familysearch.org/groups/family ) and all I got was a 404 error page. Isn't this a rather serious error?

@Evergreen, I didn't get this error. Below are a couple of links you can try and study out as well.
I hope these will help you. Thank you for your participation.

The link is still broken (at least in New Jersey). See the screen-shot below:

@Evergreen, I have tried to replicate many ways and am not getting this error message. Maybe you could change browsers, update your browser, clear cookies and temp files, the normal housekeeping to see if that would help. After signing into FamilySearch, can you click on your name in the upper right corner and then click on Family Groups and create a group there?
I hope this all helps. I am at a loss otherwise. Thanks for letting us know.
