The Surname of "Male"

My uncle's surname is Male. This ward is not acceptable in family search as a name. I had to add an accent over the letter " e", to be allowed to do his ordinance work. May you revise for future reference an this is one of the surnames used in Uganda as it might be a stumbling block to future family historians from that region.

    @Edward1977

    FYI

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    [ And, I happen to be a Member o the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

    You are not alone ...

And, this not not just a problem/issue for "Uganda", it is the SAME, for All of us, ALL around the World ...

As you are already aware ...

Short Answer: 'Yes', the problem/issue, regarding "Temple" Work, relates to the "Name".

Specifically, in your case, the particular "Word" of "Male", in the 'Family Name' / 'Surname'.

    Unfortunately ...

'Yes', CURRENTLY, we must "Request", that each individual/person, be "Checked", in each and very case.

As you are most likely aware ...

There are certain "Words", when used in the "Name" Field, of an individual/person, in "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch', that evoke the, "Needs More Information"; and, contact 'FamilySearch', for "Temple" Work.

Individuals/Persons, in "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch', whose "Name" Field, contains these certain "Words", need to be investigated by 'FamilySearch', in each and very case, prior to "Temple" Work being undertaken, to ensure that these certain "Words" are actually part of the individual's/person's "Name", rather than the contextual use of the "Words".

Here a "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':

What words and abbreviations cause "Needs more information" to appear?

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-words-and-abbreviations-cause-needs-more-information-to-appear

And, remember, that list of "Words" (and "Abbreviations") is non-exhaustive, there are others.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

Hopefully, a "Moderator" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ], here in this Forum, will find your post in this 'Category' of "FamilySearch Account"; and, "Move" your post to the more appropriate 'Category' of "Temple"; which, specifically pertains to "Temple' Work; and, then, take this matter of yours, into the Workings, of 'FamilySearch' "Support", communicating with you directly via/though either, "E-mail"; or, "User Messaging", in 'FamilySearch', to better assist you.

Just so that you are also aware ...

    For future reference ...

Please be advised, that for problems/issues, pertaining to "Temple" Work, for individuals/persons, the more appropriate 'Category' is that of "Temple"; and, here is a direct link to that 'Category":

I hope that this may help/assist, somewhat.

    Furthermore ...

    As an aside ...

    FYI

Again ... you are not alone ...

The matter, regarding "Invalid" Words, in 'Family Names'/'Surnames', was also raised recently; as, an "Idea" (ie. 'Feedback'):

Automate unblocking temple work for valid surnames in Family Tree that are in the invalid words list

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/104711/automate-unblocking-temple-work-for-valid-surnames-in-family-tree-that-are-in-the-invalid-words-list

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/104711/automate-unblocking-temple-work-for-valid-surnames-in-family-tree-that-are-in-the-invalid-words-list

    Just a thought ...

You may wish to add your support to the aforementioned "Idea" (ie. 'Feedback').

    [ Attention: @Bruce Wilkinson ( FYI ) ... ]

    Good Luck.

I hope, that you get the help/assist, you require.

I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective.

    Brett

ps: Remember ... You are not alone ...
