How do I acquire a French death certificate if I am not a citizen of France?

My husband and I recently learned of the death of his brother in France on September 11, 2021. We do not have any details of his passing, other than finding the death notice. Apparently you have to have a French ID to obtain a death certificate. Would anyone know how to acquire the death certificate of Drayton Gardner Nuttall, born 9 February 1938 and died 11 September 2021 in Perpignan ( Pyrénées-Orientales )? Drayton had been a resident of France for a little more than 15 years and had dual citizenship - United States and France.

Thank you, in advance, for any advice.

    Go to: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=mairie+de+perpignan+%C3%A9tat+civil

On the right side: Questions & answers - try and make your request.

I never heard that only a French citizen could get a death certificate. Sometimes you can even make the request on line. There is a 75 years right of privacy laws for the birth and marriage certificate.

If you can't do it on line, then write to the Mairie de Perpignan (address on the site) - Service de l'etat civil.
