All together the above does not explain plain and simple how I rebuild a tree (branch) in FamilySearch using a .gedcom file. I am able to import the file into FamilySearch but don/t see a tree there yet. What are the next steps to build the tree all over again. And... do I hae to add every single entry or can I do so in bulk too?

I hope to hear soon from you as it is killing me... :-)

    @WGHMMaassen

    Will

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    FIRSTLY ...

When one initially "Uploads", a GEDCOM File, into 'FamilySearch', it will appear in the "Genealogies", of 'FamilySearch'; and, can be found here:

    My Uploaded Trees

    https://www.familysearch.org/tree/import/files

    Now ...

    That Said ...

Question: Is your GEDCOM File there?

    Please advise.

    SECONDLY ...

IF, your GEDCOM File, in there in the "Genealogies", of 'FamilySearch', under "My Uploaded Trees"; THEN, ...

Question: Did you go, onto the next/second Phase, of "Uploading", a GEDCOM File, into the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'?

    Please advise.

Following on from that, we we 'see' where that leads us ...

    Brett

    Hello all,

What remains unanswered is "[...] but at the same time there must be a way to bulk import into the private space, otherwise it would take hours, or even days to rebuild a large existing tree. "

I find everywhere on the net long articles and manuals about Familysearch and importing .gedcom-files. What is the short answer to the question here?

@WGHMMaassen, the best way to protect the privacy of the living is to not put their information online, anywhere -- not even in a "protected" space. Track and maintain that data in an offline genealogy program.

Your private space on FamilySearch exists so that you can link to your deceased relatives. The profiles you use for the linking can -- and in my strongly-held opinion, should -- be simply placeholders. They should contain just enough information so that you know which profile is which, and if someone doesn't connect to any new relationships (such as an unmarried sibling), you don't need to create a profile for that person.
