How do I fix this family?
Thomas Brook has morphed into James Brook. Thomas' wife, Judith, and their children are now James' family. I did my usual search, thought I had found them, and behold, when I opened his record his name is now James?? James' id number is LHXQ-5TG. Judith is K4TW-MXH. I searched with different children with the same result. I looked into James Brook's change history. The history says he had no merges! I do see the name Thomas Brook in his record as another name he is known by. Usually that means this record is a result of at least one merge.
I am continuing to review all of my grandmother's paper family group sheets before I throw them away. See the link below to see the sheet she submitted to do this family's temple work. She also notes on the sheet that I have, that she corresponded with JR Cunningham who searched the Birstall Parish Register. Her source note is in James' record under one of his marriages to Judith. She is Rose Binns Folsom. I checked the Birstall Parish Register myself and verified the christenings of Ann, Joseph, Eliza, William and Sarah Brook. All have Thomas and Judith Brook as their parents. When looking at James' temple ordinances, they match those of Thomas' on the family group sheet. Judith K4TW-MXH has the same ordinances, too. Some of the children show Thomas as their father and are sealed to him. Others show James as the father they are sealed to. It looks like all the sources for James came from familysearch, except for one source which was added by a person. Should I just change James' name to Thomas?
