Ordinances "sent to temple" have not been completed after years of waiting.

I want to complete the final two ordinances on Edward Paul Stroud, LLCH-8JV. He was never married. However, the ordinances were first reserved in 2014 and then sent to the temple in 2016. They are not been completed. How can I get them released so I can reserve them?

    Furthermore ...

Here are some "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':

What happens to ordinances when I share them with the temple?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/what-happens-to-family-names-when-i-share-them-with-the-temple

How long does it take for the temple to complete shared names?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-long-does-it-take-for-the-temple-to-complete-shared-names

Can I reserve an ordinance that has been shared with the temple?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/someone-shared-my-ancestors-ordinances-with-the-temple-the-temple-has-not-printed-them-can-i-do-them

I hope, that these may also help/assist.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    [ And, I am a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

    I just took a 'look' at Edward Paul STROUD ( LLCH-8JV ).

    [ And, I am "Related" ... ]

'Yes', his Work, 'seems' to have been "Share[d] with the Temple System".

    And ...

    That Said ...

The majority of his Work, HAS already been "Completed".

BOTH, the "E"; and, the "SP", CAN (both) be "Requested"; and, the Work undertaken ...

One DOES NOT, have to WAIT until the Work, is actioned by a "Temple".

Basically, ANY User/Patron, who is a Member of he Church, CAN "Request" BOTH, the "E"; and, the "SP", to be responsible, for the Work, to be undertaken.

[ In fact, YOU can "Request" BOTH, "E"; and, "SP"; as, you so desire ... ]

Otherwise, it is just a matter, of WAITING, until a "Temple", gets around to "Printing" the (Name) Cards; and, doing he Work (ie. Passing onto a Patron, to do).

    Please be aware ...

That, MANY; Many; many, "Names," have remained "Share[d] with the Temple System", for much longer, than since the work, for Edward Paul STROUD ( LLCH-8JV ) - he is not alone.

There IS a LOT of Work to DO ...

    Just my thoughts.

I know, that this may not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide some. insight; and, perspective.

As Brett has pointed out, due to updates in temple policy and in Family Tree a couple of years ago, we never have to request that ordinances have to be released from a person's shared-with-the-temple list anymore. You may remember when such ordinances had a red icon on the ordinance page. Now they have a green icon which means they are ready to take to the temple. Here is a clip of Edwards ordinance page:

Just click Request to add him to your reservation list, print out a card, and take care of these. The clock means that when expiration dates are back in force, you would have 90 days to complete the work or your reservation would lapse and these would go back to just being shared with the temple.

Thanks, Brett and Gordon. Had not seen the article link about requesting ordinances already shared with a temple. I recall ( I think) of trying to do that in the past and it didn't work, as you said, Gordon. I could be mistaken though. Anyway, I've now reserved the ordinances. Hopefully I can get a reservation at my temple in the 90 days the reservation gives me to do the work.

It's important on the FamilySearch website to read and click on everything scattered around on the pages you visit because things do tend to change on a regular basis. If you go to your Temple tab you will see this notice at the top:

Because of the limited reservations, the clock does not start on your 90 days until all temples are open at phase 4. As you check back on that page and look at the reservations you just made, you will see that for now the expiration date is always 90 in the future.

Here is one such ordinance my wife reserved on Nov. 15. When she first reserved it, the expiration date was Feb 15.

    Screen Shot 2021-12-19 at 8.48.30 AM.png

Now it is not 90 days from Nov 15, but rather 90 days from today.

A lot of people get confused with by the notice that is under the expiration date. This just means that since it was already shared with the temple when you pulled the reservation to do personally, you do not need to ever re-share it if something unfortunate comes up and you cannot complete it yourself. If you un-reserve it, it goes back to the temple list you took it from and actually goes back to the same spot it was before, not the end of the line. So people who reserve a bunch of these, never do them, then release them back to the temple, do not slow down these getting completed by the temple.
