Ordinance work permission

I have a second cousin once removed on my father's line, Malcolm Nicol GD8N-S9Z, who needs ordinance work done. My husband and I are working on his father, uncles, aunts and Mother's work. I need permission to do his work. How could I get this permission? How would I know if I am the closest living relative. We would love to do his work and link him to family if possible.

Thank you, Pam Jesperson

    Hello @Pamela J. Jesperson

Thank you for using the community and asking this question. First go to the question mark with the circle around it in the top right corner of the page.

Then select "help center." Then type in key words "requesting permission." There will be several articles, but this is the one you should select: Request ordinances for a person born in the last 110 years • FamilySearch

This article will tell you how to request the ordinances.

The next part of your question: How would you know if you were the closest living relative?

You must be either a spouse, parent, child or sibling to be considered a close living relative.

We hope that this has helped you with your questions about doing the ordinance work for your ancestor.
