UK, England, Middlesex—Parish Registers, 1539–1988 [Part A][MSFT-SZ4]. This batch is indexed as 1813 due to the header at the top of the page. Dates written in the document seem to be off by 1 year and I think the date should be 1814. This will affect all the batches on both sides of this batch.

Who do I send information about a batch that is incorrectly dated?-

Looks like the indexer was confused or did not know on what dates to index. We appreciate diligent reviewers that make corrections and submit corrected batches. Here are some points to think about on this batch:

    • I can see the far left column has baptism dates with the applicable year 1813- the number 4 could be a correction? but it is nor crossed out! or it can also be a range. No sure. Should see the previous images if there is a same format of year. Note the ditto marks on date of baptisms column.

I have the feeling that the baptism year should follow the year 1813 until a new year is given.

    • As per the date of birth - on right column (Born), some names have a complete or specific year of birth while other names do not have it. These records and their dates of birth may benefit of being indexed as they were written.

The researcher would find the person by their names and will draw their own conclusion.

Note this regarding child surnames: If the surname was not recorded or was written as a variation of the word "unknown," press Ctrl+B to mark this field blank.

    • There is a general indexing guideline point about Indexing Dates that may help you: If multiple dates were given for a birth, type the earliest date. If multiple dates were given for other events, type the most recent or latest date.

Hope this answers your question. Thank you for your help.

Even when we think the information on a document might be incorrect, we still index what is on the document. Here is a help center article about indexing incorrect information.
