Why do my selected names go away when I go to the next page of reservations, or enter a new filter?

This is quite a strange problem, and easier to demonstrate than to explain in words, but I'll do my best. If I filter the list of reservations by name, select some people, and then use a new filter, the names I just checked off are unchecked. This also seems to happen whenever I navigate to a new page (since the program doesn't list all reservations on one page if there are a lot of them).

I'll try to demonstrate this with some screenshots and commentary. In this first picture, see how I've entered the filter "anna maria" and selected the first three names from the corresponding results.

1.PNG

Now see what happens when I enter a new filter. Notice how the "PRINT" option has changed to reflect the inability to print anything (i.e. if nothing is selected, nothing can be printed).

2.PNG

To confirm that my previous selections have indeed been unselected, see this next screenshot below, where I again use the filter "anna maria" as I did for the first screenshot.

3.PNG

See how those first three names -- which were originally selected at the beginning of this whole thing -- are no longer selected? That's the problem. Why is FamilySearch not remembering my selections? Is this an intentional feature? If so, why would this feature be deliberately implemented, when it is clearly the opposite of user-friendly? If not, please fix this. It is a huge pain. And the same problem happens if I select any names on one page of my reservations list, and then navigate to another page of my reservations list.

    @miggshoward

    FYI

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    [ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    No need to demonstrate ...

    We CANNOT, select the "Temple" Work, for individuals/person that appear, on/across DIFFRENT Pages.

    Plus, attempting/changing a NEW "Search", will just loose the previously, selected individual/person.

    It is as simple as that.

    I am sorry ...

    It was disappointing, to say the least, when the "Continuous" List of "Reservations", for "Temple" Work, was REPLACED, by the "Paging" (ie. "Pages").

    The reason/inference; being, that the "Continuous" Lists, that for MANY Users/Patrons (who are Members of the Church), was Extremely LARGE (ie. "Thousands"), used far too much "System" Resources; thereby, "Slowing" the "System" down.

    Hence, why 'FamilySearch' went, from "Continuous" Lists, to "Paging" (ie. "Pages") Lists.

    As such ...

    Due to the "Change", from "Continuous" Lists, to "Paging" (ie. "Pages") Lists ...

    'FamilySearch', ADDED, "Filters", to the "Reservations" Lists; where, it is/has been implied/suggested, that we SHOULD be able to "Sort" the individuals/persons that we require, by using those "Filters", to get the result they we desire.

    So ...

    That Said ...

    According to 'FamilySearch', it is SUPPOSEDLY, a very SIMPLE matter, of getting to know how to use, the "Filters", in the "Reservations" Lists, to achieve the desired result ...

    As such ...

    In you particular case ...

    You may need to use, the TWO (x2) 'Types' of "Filters",

    (1) the one to "Search" by "Name"; and,

    (2) the other, to actually "Filter" regarding "Temple" Work.

    Just my thoughts.

    I hope that this may help/assist, somewhat.

    @miggshoward

    FYI

    Pictorially ...

    1. Search by "Name".

    2. "Filter" by "Temple" Work.

    To get what you want/need, all on the SAME "Page".

    @Brett . I understand what you mentioned about FamilySearch changing how they display the lists of reservations.

    Having said that, FamilySearch should be more than capable of finding a way for the system to retain a user's selections when changing filters and navigating to other pages in the reservations section. I would be very surprised if they didn't have the technology to implement a fix to this problem. The only question, it seems, is whether or not the programmers 1. have the know-how/ability to troubleshoot this & 2. are given the time and resources from their superiors to properly address the issue.

    @miggshoward

    FYI

    Just in passing ...

    We have been, hoping; and, asking, for such, since Day One, of the "Change", when the "Continuous" List of "Reservations", for "Temple" Work, was REPLACED, by the "Paging" (ie. "Pages").

    To-date, nothing has transpired ...

    Please be aware ...

    There are MANY competing priorities, not only, in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'; but, ALSO in the OTHER Parts (eg. "Indexing"), of 'FamilySearch'; and, there are LIMITED "Resources" (eg. "Funds") available to 'FamilySearch'.

    And ...

    As 'FamilySearch', has ADDED, "Filters", to the "Reservations" Lists; where, it is/has been implied/suggested, that we SHOULD be able to "Sort" the individuals/persons that we require, by using those "Filters", to get the result we desire ... ALL on ONE "Page".

    I honestly doubt, that the ability, to select individuals/persons, on/across DIFFERENT "Pages", of our "Reservations" List, would be very high, on that list of priorities.

    I am just saying ...

    Just my thoughts.
