How are the totals in my reservation calculated?

I have set up a new family group. I have added names from Family Tree into the new group. Those names are being included in "my reservation" totals as well. How can I populate my family group without going over the 300 name limit?

    @Forest King

Thank you for your question about Family Groups. Group members can easily share ordinances with a family group. Names shared with a family group are available for only group members to reserve and print.

Sharing family names with a family group has several benefits:

    • It allows families to work together to serve their ancestors in the temple.
    • It allows the people in a family who do much of the research to easily share name with their families while still being able to view the ordinances on their own lists and track the completion of the ordinances without having to manually pass out cards.

Each group member can share all of their reserved ordinances with a family group, or until the group’s limit has been reached.

A family group can have a total of 1,000 printable family name cards.

For more information about the Family Groups, go the the Help Center under the question mark, and search "Family Groups".

Good luck using a Family Group.

The explanation provided missed the problem I am encountering.

When I started to add names to my newly created family group, "my reservations" total in the upper left hand corner was 202. I added roughly 53 names to my newly created group from other sources like Family Tree. Now "my reservations" total in the upper left hand corner is now 255. Somehow the family group totals are also being included as part of my total even though they are listed in the new family group.

    Why is that?

How can I reach anywhere close to 1,000 names if I keep getting "credit" in "my reservations for my contributions to the new group?

    Thanks,

    Forrest King

    Hi Forrest,

The 300 total includes your reserved names plus your contribution to your family group. The names you shared with the temple are not included in your 300 total.

Others could presumably add to your family group and take the total up to 1000. Its true, you yourself could never add 1000 names of people in your family group because your limit for reservations is 300. If several group members add hundreds of names, it could add up and hit the 1000 limit.

There is a good blog article that has a FAQ that might answer this question more clearly than I can.

    Hope this helps

Now I know what I am up against. Unfortunately, I will be the primary name supplier so the 300 names limit becomes problematic.

Could you be more specific on the "good blog article" you are suggesting?

    Thanks,

    Hi Forrest

It's a "Frequently Asked Questions" article, so it explains some of the nuances like how the totals are calculated. Are you able to view the link?

    Thanks

    Scott
