How to change the gender of persons?

The books of e.g. Nikitsch/Füles contain explicitly the gender of children, but the indexed entries all are set to "male". Many attributes can be altered but not the gender. How to correct them?

There are thousands (possibly millions) of index entries on FamilySearch that have recently (in the last few years) all changed their sex to male. It seems to be connected with the same process that mislocated them and stripped the month and day from their dates: an auto-standardization routine that Did It Wrong but was allowed to run anyway.

We will move this to the support team that deals with these issues. Thanks for asking!

@GK96 User corrections are not currently available for gender in indexed information on FamilySearch. Engineers tell us that they plan to expand the user correction options in the future. In the mean time, we suggest that you use the "reason to attach" note field when you use these records as sources in Family Tree. Noting the error in the index can help prevent confusion when other folks see the records later.
