Youth signing up for partner sites
Know of a 17 year old trying to set up access to the partner sites. Ancestry in particular. Just keeps getting ‘can’t access right now.’ Any idea why? Ancestry says it’s a FamilySearch thing and FamilySearch says it’s an Ancestry thing. That’s not very helpful! A 13 year old signed up and it requested parent/guardian permission but that’s not what the 17 year old got. Anyone else experience this?

@Jen Haddad, to start with, you might want to reference the help center article "I got an access error when creating my Ancestry account." Be sure you are signed in to FamilySearch before you click this link so you can see the member information: https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/i-got-an-access-error-when-creating-my-ancestry-account
It has some troubleshooting steps. If none of those solve the problem, the youth or the youth's parents should contact support. Probably the best way would be to telephone 866-406-1830.
Since youth 13-18 need parental permission, it might be best for a parent to call.

Thanks. I'll forward the information to the individual. They did phone support but was told an Ancestry issues. Then phoned Ancestry who said it was a FamilySearch issue. Just a circle going round and round with no resolution.

@Jen Haddad That is too bad that both sites decided to pass the buck. If the help article does not resolve the problem, please have them call FamilySearch support again and explain that Ancestry said it was our problem. That way, if the support agent who answers does not know how to help, at least they will know that they need to consult with a leader to learn what to do.

@N Tychonievich still waiting to found out what the outcome was. Once I know, I'll share.
