Please Don't Include "WAITING" names in the 300 Lines Temple Reservations Limit
I share LOTS of endowments with the temple. However, I love to save the sealings for myself, because I can easily keep up with completing them. This results in the name being labeled as "WAITING."
With the new rule, a name that is "WAITING" still counts as a line item towards my 300 lines reservation limit. Please consider not counting these towards the 300. Because I have shared the endowments, I have to "WAIT." I cannot do the Sealings to Parents now.
I am NOT slowing down the work. I attend often to do all that I can, and then I share the rest. The work is slow because very few people actually do the endowments that I've shared with the temple.
Please don't count "WAITING" reservations towards the 300 lines limit.
Thanks :)

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
I am certain, that there are, MANY; Many; many, of us, who WILL agree with you.

Please Don't Include "WAITING" names in the 300 Lines Temple Reservations Limit

imho, this is a great idea and I hope that it implemented.
I do the same thing, share endowments with the Temple System and then wait to do the sealings. I have dozens of these names on my personal reservation list.

I would just share both E and SP with the temple to get them off your list. As far as I'm aware, the system is not going to pull an SP to be done until the E is done. So, the only thing that could happen to the SPs is for someone to reserve them with a 90-day reservation - the temple system won't have them done until the Es are done.
I would make sure that you get notifications when ordinances are recorded (this also works for ordinances that you've shared with the temple system). Then, you can unshare the SP when the E is done.
Maybe that helps 😀

Thanks, @cmillionaire Yes, I suppose there are always ways to try to work with the system the way it is.
I just think it would be better if FamilySearch would recognize that some names are in WAITING status. I feel these name should not be counted towards the 300 limit, because the very fact that they are in WAITING status is because the patron has SHARED them, which is exactly what the 300 limit is trying to accomplish.
In other words, if the goal (SHARING) has already been met, what is the point of restricting the patron so that he/she will SHARE?

I know, I think your case for not counting waiting names as on the list is a good one. Ask for change and work with what you've got in the meantime, I guess :)

If you are maxed out and unable to do temple work because you are "waiting" the best thing to do is just use another family member's account to continue the work (husband, daughter, etc.) Yes, it's messy but it does keep the work moving forward and allows you to keep doing temple work until FS fixes this obvious error.
Many families are being barred from doing family temple work once they have shared 300 names with the temple (while "waiting" to do later ordinances such as sealings). Including "waiting" ordinances in the 300-limit makes no sense as NO ONE ELSE can do these "waiting" ordinances (SPs) until the Es are complete.
For instance, my family has the capacity to do 50 ordinances a month (so 600 a year). Every month we can do about 5 endowments and 45 sealings or initiatories. However, once I have assign 300 male endowments to the temple, I am LOCKED OUT from reserving or printing names for the next 15 years (since there is a 15-year backlog on male Es). In the meantime, I can't even use ordinance-ready to print 5 female initiatories (from our shared family names!) In short, my account is locked for 15 years due to the male endowments). Talk about a disincentive to do temple or family history work! Yes, I can choose to relinquish those "waiting" sealings. (Now someone else can reserve them--but they will still have the same 15-year wait. It's the male endowment queue, not my sealing reservations, that impede the work.) Bottom line: as a female, I can't do the male endowments. But in the meantime, if I research and discover a great-aunt who needs temple work, I now can't even reserve her name--even to share w/the temple or family!
Fortunately (?), if you are the main genealogist for your family, you can probably use the 50 or so unused accounts of relatives to continue your research and temple work. True this creates myriad other problems since the wrong patron name is on the temple card and research emails will go to the wrong family member. (Plus it's really not best practice for you to be accessing other family accounts.) But at least it allows family genealogists to keep doing temple and family history work while maxed out due to the 15-year wait on male endowments. Soon many more families will encounter this wall and clamor for change. Then FS can make this relatively easy fix in FS--rather than requiring thousands of families to find such workarounds.

Agreed!!! So very true!!! I hope FamilySearch reads your post!
I transfer all of my "waiting" sealings to my 15-year-old daughter's account, because she's okay with the fact that I have her log-in password. When they are ready to be performed, I transfer them back to my account.
I would LOVE it if FamilySearch would automatically tag "waiting" sealings as "WAITING," and put them in a different category altogether.

I shared all my waiting ordinances to the shared with temple list. Then they don't count towards my 300 limit. When we are ready to attend a sealing appointment, I check for which ones are now ready.
