My nephew was born in Calgary Alberta Canada in August 1950. He was looking for his adoption date. I assume the official date would be when it was finalized. Can someone tell us what the waiting period was at that time and where he would look for date it was legalized?

I could not find any information in the FamilySearch Wiki, but Google gave me the following information that may be helpful:

    https://www.originscanada.org/adoption-records/by-province/alberta/

Good luck in that search. There is also general adoption information in the RootsTech conference 2021 as follows:

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

Further to what already has been proffered ...

    As an aside ...

And, just in case you are not aware ...

[ And, of course, if you are not already a member ... ]

There is am active 'Group', in the "Groups" Section, of this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, to help/assist, to work together, to exchange resources; and, search tips; and, reunite birth families.

Many members of the various 'Groups'. are only too willing, to help/assist, where they can.

Please be aware that to post in a 'Group', one must "Join" a 'Group'; and, become a member of that 'Group'.

Here is the particular 'Group', to which I refer:

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/1-adoption-and-unknown-family-research

    Description:

Adoptees, birth parents, birth siblings, individuals with unknown or unexpected parents, and volunteers are welcome. Let's work together to exchange resources and search tips and reunite birth families and/or to learn health information.

I hope this also may help, somewhat.

    Good Luck.
