Cancelling temple reservation.

My Father reserved some names to do Temple work, but He died before that work was finished. How can I cancell the reservations he made so that I can finish the Temple work he started?

As far as I know you can't cancel reservations in your father's reservation list now that he is deceased.

This is what was the case several years ago - when a member of the church dies and their Ward Clerk puts their death date on their membership record, the reservation list on their FamilySearch Account is locked.

In 2013 We encountered the same problem in the Temple office I work in, however it might have been updated by the temple department since then.

The one suggestion I can make (since none of us have a way to contact FamilySearch any more due to the recent changes), is to talk to a member of your Temple Presidency who might be able to find out for you. Each Temple has a Temple and Family History expert they can contact at church headquarters who can help them with Record Problems and temple ordinance problems.

    Hi Gail!

I am writing specifically to you in hopes of shedding light on a misconception, which is anyone can still contact FamilySearch, especially with the recent changes. When you post in Community, you have contacted those in the Community who have expertise, as well as those who have specific training to answer FamilySearch questions. Additionally, anyone can call a phone number for live support.

Live phone support is available at these numbers:

    Canada 1-866-406-1830

    United States 1-866-406-1830

In the future more changes will come our way, but the goal is and always has been to assist guests with furthering their family history.

We reviewed the Temple reservation list for Owen Alfred Romrell. We were unable to find any Ordinances reserved by your father. If you find reservations, please let us know the ID number of the record in question. We will then be able to proceed.

    Sincerely,

    FamilySearch Data Administration

Hi. The one that I've got is for Oliver R. Conley, Record # LZWM-N1Z. When I checked on Family Search it shows Owen Alfred Romrell has reserved the Initiatory, Endowment, and Sealing to Parents.

    @MPS1

    FYI

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, one who has been helping/assisting in this "Communiy.FamilySearch" Forum, for a number of Years... ]

On top of the 'misconception' that you proffered ...

    [ Which I am totally aware ... ]

Please, let me, also shed some light, on another 'misconception' ...

This "Communiy.FamilySearch" Forum, was originally established, a number Years ago, on the 'premise' of:

    Users/Patrons, HELPING / ASSISTING, Users/Patrons ...

And, this "Communiy.FamilySearch" Forum, has been operating quite successfully, for those Years.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

Due, to the unfortunate recent 'Demise', of the 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case Management System, earlier this Year; and, with NO immediate alternative (ie. "System"), the 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel), were basically "Moved" 'holus-bolus' (ie. Included) into the MIX of, this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

It has been a STEEP 'learning curve' ... for ALL ...

This "Communiy.FamilySearch" Forum, is NOT the sole purview, of the 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel).

The WHOLE 'nature' and 'premise' of this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, NOW has to change (and, has been slowly changing, since the early part of this Year).

The Forum is NO LONGER just, Users/Patrons, HELPING / ASSISTING, Users/Patrons; but, is now a mix, COMBINED with 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel).

Come the 1st. of November this Year, there will be another significant change to this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum; where, the matters pertaining specifically to 'FamilySearch' "Support" (eg. "Temple" Work; being, one in particular), will be able to be somewhat 'quarantined-off', from the Forum at large (ie. the 'General' populous) - this WILL have even more impact on the way things work.

Lets 'see' what happens, come the 1st. of November ...

And, there will DEFINITELY need to be, MANY 'Tweaks'; even, after the 1st. of November.

There are bound to be things (eg. Processes; and, Systems), that need addressing/fixing - only natural.

    Remember:

This is STILL the "Communiy.FamilySearch" Forum; where, Users/Patrons, can STILL Help/Assist, Other Users/Patrons; as, NOT all matters REQUIRE the, action; and/or, intervention, of 'FamilySearch' "Support"; but, granted, SOME certainly do.

We ALL need to work together, to help/assist each other ...

Again, it will be another STEEP 'learning curve' ... for ALL of us.

Things certainly ain't what they used to be ...

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett
