When indexing obituaries, do we also make a new entry for "children who died before the deceased"?

Can you please respond with the batch number? It is the number in the brackets at the end of the batch name. Each project has different instructions and we would need to review those project instructions. to assist you. Typically you would add a new entry for children who died before the deceased but we would need to look at the project instructions.
Thank you for helping Index. That helps so many find records about their ancestors.

I think these two Project Instructions (there is only one US, Missouri, Various Counties— Obituaries, 1880–1990 Project that I am seeing) apply:
- Index the name of the deceased first, by selecting the "Deceased" entry type. Then index all of the other names that were mentioned in the obituary or death notice, each as a separate entry, in the order that they appear in the document by selecting "Other" as the entry type.
- Do not create additional deceased records for deceased relatives. Only the deceased for which the obituary is about should be indexed using the Deceased entry type. All other relatives, surviving or deceased, should be indexed using the Other entry type
So - my interpretation - the deceased child should have an 'Other' entry but not a 'Deceased' entry.
I guess the instructions might change batch to batch - but I would find that pretty irregular as an Indexer... or Reviewer.

The instructions on this never change between batches. You never index the predeceased as a separate Deceased entry in obits. They are simply "others" and probably will have their own obituaries somewhere.
The only time you MIGHT create two deceased records for one obituary is if it was a multiple obit or news article where several people died in the same accident, or if two family members died and were being memorialized at the same time.

if a batch has only reviewing left, should a person reviewing send a back a batch that has almost all of the information incorrect to be reindexed or should th reviewer fix all the mistakes when it is pretty much indexing it?

Yes, @clarkcarol you should return it for reindexing and keep the indexed data. The indexer can then decide whether to delete it and start over. I love indexing these review batches that get returned!!!

Of course, it is a personal option if you prefer to fix the errors, then it will go on to another review.
