Why do I get different names in a line of ancestors when I close and later reopen my tree?
Why do I get different names in a line of ancestors when I close and later reopen my tree?
I was tracing the Walton line in my tree and inserting the names in a chart. had viewed thru 28 generations when I decided to insert the names in each generation in a pedigree chart. I had gotten 15 generations copied when I had to do something else for several hours, so I left the screen open where I left off until I returned. But when I returned and clicked on the last circled arrow to open the next few generations the screen reverted back to the beginning of the line. I then clicked thru the 15 generations I had already copied but when I clicked the next arrow the names that appeared were Kellond instead of Walton. And the last Walton shown was different from the previous list.
The same thing has happened before when I was tracing other branches of my tree and closed out of Family Search at night and reopened it the next day.

Remember that this is not solely your tree but belongs to everyone. Perhaps, while you were away, someone else has gone in and made changes, If you look at the person screen for an individual you can see what changes have been made and when if you look at the Latest Changes section half way up on the right of the screen.
From your comments you are clearly going back a long way. The likely number of others around with the same ancestors increases substantially for each extra generation you go back.
