Should this be indexed?
As I am reviewing many of the Naturalization records from Missouri, I am coming upon the situation where a small blank piece of paper that has been placed in the middle of the document. Should this document be indexed with as much information as possible, or should it be listed as no extractable data?
Thank you, Rayleen Barnes

In the Project Instructions under General Indexing Guidelines, then Overlays, its says, "Do not try to index any information underneath the overlay that may be visible."
These are different overlay instructions than what has been the case in the past. You can look at the next image in the reference images and perhaps see that the covered page is uncovered. If so, that would be indexed in a different batch. In any case, you would mark it No Extractable Data.

Make sure you index image 1 which is the Oath of Allegiance.

One more point on records like these-we do not index information underneath or around the overlay. Be sure and use the Image reference to see if the underneath document will come soon. If so, this is one of the reasons why we should not be indexing it.
