languishing in temple system limbo, reset the "shared" date" ?
I have no idea what to do about those persons who have been languishing in limbo for several years after being shared with the temple system. Is it possible to unshare them with the temple system and then share them again to the temple? Wouldn't that reset the Shared with Temple date? Would this possibly bring them out of limbo? Or are they in limbo because another relative just hasn't picked up the reservation yet to take the name to the temple?
It is my understanding that the "cannot be shared again" means that a person requesting the reservation from the temple system on a 90 day reservation, THAT PERSON cannot then share or send the reservation to someone else.
There is the function available to "unshare" with the temple and it will put the person back onto your reservation list. The "Share with Temple" option is still there. I just tried this with a reservation which I had shared with the temple a few days ago and it worked. I was able to "unshare with temple" and then "share with temple" again. It then showed a new date .
My question is, will this work for persons who have been in the temple system for several years? Has anyone tried it? Also, would it bring them out of limbo? Or are they in limbo because another relative just hasn't picked up the reservation yet to take the name to the temple?
(I don't have any old reservations to try this with. I am a new T&FH consultant in my ward. So I'm wondering about it in order to help others.)

There are a couple of knowledge articles in help that explain this situation. As a consultant your best friend is Help (circle with ?). Please enter "shared temple" and review "What happens to ordinances when I share them with the temple" and at the bottom of that KA find "How long does it take the temple to complete shared names?"
From that later KA "It is difficult to predict how long it will take for ordinances shared with the temple to be completed:
- Temples distribute ordinance cards as they are needed by the patrons who visit. The number of ordinance cards distributed each week can vary.
- Ordinances that have been shared with the temple can be reserved by other people who share your same ancestors. In some cases, this might happen within a few days. In other cases, it might not happen at all. These second reservations expire in 90 days. After that, they are returned to the temple, and the ordinances are distributed in the same order that they were originally received.
Currently, male endowments take the longest to complete. The other ordinances (baptism, confirmation, and initiatory) for male or female generally do not take as long.
Ordinances that are shared with the temple do not expire. If you have a concern about the length of time it is taking for specific ordinances to be performed, please contact FamilySearch Support. Please provide the ID number of the individual and the ordinances about which you have a concern.
If you have further concerns please go to Help Contact Us for our phone number and hours of operation.

Hello @LAHS6
If the ordinances have been reserved for a long time then let FamilySearch know via this Community forum, or you can private message me. The ID of the person is required so we can check. There are some instances where a reset needs to be done.
If you share an ordinance, then unshare and share it again to the shared temple list, the ordinance reservation goes back in the temple reservation list in the position that it was before you unshared it.
I know you were talking about sharing/unsharing. But don't unreserve the ordinances and reserve again. If you do that, then the reservation will be put to the bottom of the list.
We have some temples closed, and also more people taking their own family names to the temple so the Shared with the temple reservation list would be getting long.
All the best
