We understand that you would like to be sealed to your deceased parents. This is what you need to do to be sealed to your deceased parents.

    Sealing Yourself to Deceased Parents

To be sealed to deceased parents, you must be baptized and endowed (if you are 21 years or older). Call the temple to make an appointment for the sealing. Take the following items with you when you go to the temple:

    • Your temple recommend.
    • A Family Ordinance Request or family ordinance card with ordinances that are still needed for the deceased parents before the sealing can be performed. If both parents have all ordinances completed, a Family Ordinance Request or family ordinance card will not be needed. (See your temple and family history consultant.)
    • A family group record that shows the living and the deceased family members to be sealed. (This is not required but is helpful to temple staff.)

For more information on policies related to sealings, please consult the Church’s General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Section 28 and Section 38.4.

Note: To seal living individuals to other living individuals, please visit your local bishop or branch president. Ordinances involving only living individuals cannot be reserved in Family Tree.

We hope you found this information helpful. Enjoy the trip to the temple. What a special blessing.

According to our Temple Recorder, family group sheets are no longer required. The temple has access to all the information necessary to verify the information.

Thank you for the information. I hope I can print of a family group with my parents and I. Even though they were divorced is that ok and the fact I sealed him to his second wife and deceased son? And is this done in a sealing room for people in my family history that I need to have done or is it done in the big sealing room? Do I find proxies for my parents when I go? Thank you,

@Wind in Face , call your local temple and tell them you wish to be sealed to your deceased parents and they will lead you through the process and answer all your questions. They do this kind of thing all the time.
