Getting a death date input on a probably inactive church member

As I do my research I have found members who had slipped away from the church and had died without their death information being recorded by the church so that their official membership profile did not show up on familysearch. Usually these people have been baptized and confirmed but not participated in temple ordinances. In the past before the help feature changed, I would email support with proof of the death and they would forward it to the membership department to confirm and input the death date. Now that option to contact support has changed, how do I do that?

Specifically I found Elmer Campbell PID LVSJ-YGD died 20 years ago. He is my 2nd cousin once removed and probably because I had added a source to his profile, someone contacted me to get permission to do his temple work. Of course, I don't qualify for that. On this profile he was listed as deceased with no explanation how the creator of the profile knew he was deceased. I did a few minutes of research and found his death information. He was born in 1913. He was a descendent of a pioneer family that I also descend from . I knew of his parents and I knew that although they later divorced that their marriage was in the temple in 1906 so at least he would be considered BIC. All of his siblings both younger and older were baptized as children; he appears in various LDS census' as an adult so he must have been baptized and confirmed. All of his siblings had their later ordinances completed after their deaths and nothing that I have found indicates that he was active in the church at least at the time of his death. So I assume that no one in authority recorded a death on the official record and thus with the current profile, he is sitting their waiting for all of his ordinances. I have attached the sources to his profile that prove his death. I did think that maybe he had been excommunicated or requested that his membership be removed from the church, in which case he would need to baptized and confirmed again. But I see from others in that situation that permission is needed from the first presidency to do any temple work for them. I don't know if that is for every dissolution of membership or for just some.

How do I find out if there was an "official" record that needs to be updated and merged with the profile he currently has, before someone does give permission and duplicates his baptism and confirmation.

    @Leslie Vaughn

    Because this concern is about Church data that is missing from the details of one of your ancestors, we will be moving this concern to the Community Temple Help Center Category instead of the FamilySearch Community Category. You can easily find your question and any resulting comments by going to that category, or by clicking your icon at the upper right then go to My Discussions. This move will allow others with a similar question to see the discussion.

    Hi @Leslie Vaughn

    We can still help you with locating and updating a Church Membership Record so that it can be moved to Family Tree and merged with any duplicate records. This will allow ordinances that a person completed during their lifetime to show in Family Tree so that they won't be duplicated.

    Because the SSDI has been attached as proof of death for Elmer Harold Campbell LVSJ-YGD, we will forward your request to the appropriate specialty team who can review and resolve this issue. You will be contacted either here in the Community or by email when you issue has been resolved. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
