I have a signed letter from my x husband giving permission for his brother Dorse Donald Huey's temple work to be done.

Wayne Huey had a stroke, unable to do any genealogy work Don's baptism and confirmation has been done but not the endowment and sealing to his parents.

Where do I send this letter? Don passed away 30 August 2002. Born 7 Sept. 1946 to Dorse Harmond Huey and Helen Carolina Schraw.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    [ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Hopefully, a "Moderator" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ], in this Forum, WILL "Move", this post of yours, to the 'Category' of "Temple" (ie. pertaining to problems/issues regarding to "Temple" Work for an individual/person), rather than this 'Category' of "Other".

    Where, 'FamilySearch' "Support" can forward this matter of yours, onto the area in 'FamilySearch', that can address the matter.

    As an aside ...

    Just for future reference, the 'Category' of "Temple", is where posts of this nature (ie. pertaining to problems/issues regarding to "Temple" Work for an individual/person) should be posted/submitted.

    "Q and A" Section

    'Category' = Temple

    I hope this helps.

    @LorraineHuey First of all we have removed your email address from this public forum to protect your privacy.

    In reviewing your request to have the temple work done for the brother of you ex husband we would have you review the following Articles: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/individuals-for-whom-i-can-request-temple-ordinances https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/doing-temple-work-for-people-not-related-to-me

    In this last article please note this policy:

    Policy

    Please do not request temple ordinances for a nonrelative unless you have obtained advanced permission from a close living relative. A close relative is an undivorced spouse, adult child, parent, or sibling.

    Similarly, please do not request ordinances for victims of the Jewish Holocaust unless you are an immediate family member or have obtained the appropriate permission.

    For more information on this topic, please see the articles listed below, or consult the Church’s General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 28.1.

    Since the permission was given to you by your ex husband that does not qualify.

    Really the work needs to be done or permission given by Dorse Donald Huey's, Spouse, an adult child or a living sibling. If you do receive permission from his spouse, an adult child or a living sibling you can request permission and follow those steps. Here is the help article about that: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-request-ordinances-for-an-ancestor-who-was-born-in-the-last-110-years

    Hopefully this will help answer your question.

    @LorraineHuey

    Your x husband would be considered a closest living relative to his brother. Because you are not related, the wording of the letter has to be very specific.

    I, (name of person giving permission), give (your name) permission to do temple work in a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple, for (name of deceased), who is my (relationship to person giving permission).  (Signature of person giving permission)

    If your letter is in this format, I can complete a ticket for you. If not, let us know when you have the letter in the correct format and we can submit a ticket for you. The department that approves the request will then reach out to you for a copy of your letter.

    Also, please provide the ID Number of the person in FamilySearch at that time.
