Virginia Vital Records 1715-1901. Marriage Registry

I am working on the batch Virginia Vital Records 1715-1901. It is a marriage registry. There is a column for the groom (normally column 1) and a column for the bride (normally column 2). However I just brought up another batch and these are reversed with bride in column 1 and groom in column 2. The indexing form just asks for Spouse 1 and spouse 2. It doesn't ask for bride and groom per se. I just started indexing the bride as spouse 1 and groom as spouse 2. is this appropriate or should I keep consistent with other batches and put groom as spouse 1. Before I go any further, I would like your opinion. Hope I'm making sense. I went through all the helps and this isn't addressed at all. Thanks

I think keep the Index in the same order - just as you have done - since the instructions don't specify (from what you've said).
