Question about symbols on tax records
Many of the Georgia Tax Assessment Records feature notations with a double-slash [//] or something like a hash mark [#] at the beginning of a line. These symbols are frequently followed by "For Adm. of [dead guy]," "For the widow of [dead guy]," "For the orphans of [dead guy]"; but there are also instances where just a name is given. Can anyone tell me what these symbols should signify? Some kind of trust?

I did some searching and haven't come up with what the symbols mean. You may want to contact the county court house and see if someone there can answer the question.
Dennis Yancy @Dennis Yancey, do you know what the symbols stand for?
Thanks for using the FamilySearch Community,

Well, I never found an explanation. I’ll just have to go with my gut. Although you would think there would be something, somewhere.
