If you need to report any type of harassments or threats that were received through FamilySearch, please use the Report Abuse option to create a ticket that goes directly to the specialty department that can review your concerns. You will find a Report Abuse link in FamilySearch messaging, in Memories, and on the details pages of your ancestors who are in Family Tree. The following link will take you to the FamilySearch Help Center article.
This process is used to get your concerns directly to the personnel who can help you.

Report Abuse not working in messages, can't find links. This message looks a lot like someone pfishing for for $. Its full of slather on the sympathy and the guilt: I had seen that you had made a change to a person's record, and I think we may be related as distant cousins. I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 25th of this year. I've never known a parent to be a benevolent force, and growing up all I knew was fear and pain. I wasn't wanted by the family that raised me, and for years as a child I suffered greatly at their hands. My birth parents never wanted me, nor loved me either. Family is the one thing I have ever wanted so desperately, but was constantly denied all my life. I've been reaching out to distant cousins in the Church with the hope to find family that does want to be a part of my life. Family is supposed to be important to those in the Church.

Thank you for reporting this concern. Our knowledge article is not very clear about exactly what you click to generate the popup. The popup has links that allow us to either mute a person who has contacted us through the FamilySearch Messaging feature, or to Report Abuse because of messages they have sent that we feel are inappropriate .
In the main body of the messaging inbox where you see the message that was sent to you, you should see the name of the person who sent the message along with an icon that is the first letter of their name. Click that icon or their name to generate the popup. It will have two options: you can either use the Report Abuse feature, or you can mute that person so that you will not continue to receive messages from them. I have provided an example, but for privacy reasons, I have blocked the details about the message and the person who sent them. I hope this explanation and the screen shot are helpful to you.
Just to the right of the letter-icon is the person's name, but again, I have blocked it for privacy reasons.
I am so sorry you have had some negative experiences in your life, but I hope you will continue to reach out to find your ancestors as you work at FamilySearch.

@D'merrill , you may want to go ahead and "Block" this person from messaging you while you work through the Abuse Reporting process.

@D'merrill did you click the letter "B" with the Circle around it. See the example shown in @CDBurk 's image above. Don't click the name, click the Letter with a Circle around it. When I click the Letter/Circle I get a different pop up with the Report Abuse choice than when I click the name.

(Thanks for the PII edit Pw.) Found the active link inside the message: not in the header; or the side frames. All of these have an initial inside of a contrasting color ball icon. Drop down currently located flush LEFT of the TIME message sent. Above that is the centered -day of the message- in an allcaps font. In Safari that's about 15% down the message frame itself.
