Year - three possibilities but only one is correct (Boston Tax Records)
https://www.familysearch.org/indexing/batch/986fe51d-62f2-4686-af50-312a0a596980
This project asks for a year and on most batches the year is clearly shown or it's clearly not there.
(In the following paragraphs, the "xx" in the abbreviation for assessed are actually "ss" but that word is not allowed to be posted.)
There are some batches that have a column labeled "Axx'd 1866 Page" (meaning Assessed 1866 Page) Almost all indexers insert "blank" for the batch year for this situation, which I think is correct since the Axx'd 1866 is referring to the prior year's assessment.
But some enter 1866 for the batch year which I think is clearly wrong.
But then, some will enter 1867 for the batch year which is technically correct but is not according to batch instructions which calls for the entering of a clearly shown year. The instructions do not mention calculating the year based on other information.
Hopefully this makes sense. I would appreciate your opinion as what to enter in the year field. (I say "blank" for the Axx'd 1866 Page batches.)
Thanks, John

Hello John W. O'Brien
We noticed that some batches have the column labeled ****'d 1867 and indicate a Page number.
We also looked into the Project instructions Example images ion how to index the. They blanked the year field. We would not use these information from that column.
The field help for year indicates the following: If you cannot determine the 4-digit year, index the 2-digit number. If you cannot determine the 2-digit or 4-digit year, press Ctrl+B to mark this field blank.
Hope we have answered your question.
